WIRELINE OPERATIONS TRAINING

This 16 hour IADC approved course is for personnel involved in wireline operations. The objective of the course will be to improve safety and productivity in wireline operations. Personnel successfully completing course will meet training requirements under 30 CFR part 250 Subpart O (production safety systems and well control) as well as training requirements under API RP T-6, “Recommended Practice for Training and Qualification of Personnel in Well Control Equipment and Techniques for Wireline Operations on Offshore Locations”. TRS recommends both helpers and operators complete course per industry requirements. Personnel will be given a manual to facilitate training and hands on exercises in this subject area. IADC accredited cards/certificates will be given upon successful completion of course. TRS has a wide variety of wireline equipment to reinforce training.

COURSE CONTENT

I. Well Servicing Reasons- workover operations, wireline operations, well development process
II. Definitions & Calculations- pressure fundamentals, live & kicking wells, force
III. Kick Fundamentals- causes, detection, indicator response
IV. Gas Characteristics- pressure/volume relationship, gas expansion & migration
V. Fluids- characteristics, types
VI. Surface Equipment- wireline types, wireline unit components, std. tools, wellhead, BOPs, auxiliary well control equipment, pressure control equipment, lubricators, stuffing box, gas detectors, ESD system
VII. Subsurface Equipment- tubing/drillstring components, completion equipment
VIII. Procedures- well info, rigging up/down, shifting & pulling tools, well shut in, stripping & shearing wireline, fishing operations, gas lift operations, swabbing, surveys, perforating
IX. Complications & Solutions- trapped pressure (plugs, SCSSV,SSCSSV, bridge plugs, sand bailing, paraffin removal, hydrates), casing pressure, lost circulation, underground flow, collapsed tubing, junk in hole, communication problems, stuck tool string, deviated holes
X. Organizing Operations- personnel assignments, planned responses to well control scenarios
XI. Testing- pressure control equipment testing, installation of rings, flanges, tree connections
XII. Government Regulations- review of applicable 30 CFR Part 250 regs concerning General Safety, Pollution & Wireline Operations
