IADC Rig Pass Orientation Training
SAFEGULF/SAFELAND Accredited Course Outline
This 10 hour course presents basic safety awareness training on various topics. This orientation training is required by the BSEE and satisfies API Recommended Practice T1. TRS has been approved by IADC to present the RIG PASS which is approved to accredit SAFEGULF/SAFELAND orientation training. Students receive a IADC Rig Pass Card with SAFEGULF/SAFELAND logo upon successful completion. Note: that this orientation course will not satisfy the required compliance training (ie. Hazwoper).
Course Outline:
1. Introduction – training objectives; class rules.
2. General Safety – behavioral safety, intervention, attitude principles, alcohol & drug policies, weapons & firearms policy, personal conduct, workplace violence prevention, housekeeping, chain of command/communications, accident/incident reporting, driving safety awareness, JSEA.
3. PPE – head, face & eye, foot, hand, hearing, fall (slips, trips & fall protection video), respiratory protection, PPE, display & demo of PPE.
4. Hazard Communication (video), Hazardous Materials Transportation, Waste Disposal & Minimization, Environmental Compliance, HAZWOPER.
5. Occupational Health – Employee responsibilities, specific health hazards (H2S, NORM, benzene & toluene, sand, asbestos, acids & bases).
6. Specialized Work Procedures – general (Lockout/Tagout, confined space entry, hot work, other), basic electrical safety, permitting.
7. Fire Safety – prevention, responsibilities.
8. Material handling – mechanical equipment
9. First Aid Treatment, Bloodborne Pathogens, back injury prevention
10. Worksite orientation- onshore & offshore Rig/Platform environment.
11. Emergency response, Marine Trash Debris, SEMS, Signs & Tags.
12. Offshore safety awareness – general
13. Water Survival, Emergency Abandonment – general
14. Onsite Orientation,Excavation & Trenching, Wildlife Hazards, Adverse Weather Hazards
15. Test, Completion Card Issuance.
