HAZWOPER Training Course Outline
There are several HAZWOPER training requirements for employees involved in either cleanup or emergency response operations. We offer all HAZWOPER required courses. Each fully complies with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 and API RP 75.
Awareness Level (Emergency Notification)
1. Regulatory review
2. Hazards-Chemical Exposure/Fires/Reactives/Corrosives/Ionizing Radiation/Oxygen Deficiency/Biologic/Safety /Electrical/Heat Stress/Cold Exposure/Noise Hazards
3. Hazard Communication
4. Hazards & Risk Assessment Techniques
5. DOT Emergency Response Guidebook
6. Emergency Response including Incident Command System
7. Awareness Level Test
Certificates to be awarded include HAZMAT Awareness, HAZCOMM
Course length – 4 Hrs.
Operations Level (Defensive Measures)
All topics included in Awareness Level
1. Personal Protective Equipment /Eye Protection/Skin Protection/PPE Use
2. Program Development/Respiratory Protection/Hearing Conservation &Protection
3. Decontamination
4. Spill Control including oil spill response
5. Operations Level Test/Exercise
Certificates to be awarded include HAZMAT Operations level, HAZCOMM, PPE, Respiratory Protection, and Hearing Conservation
Course length – 8 Hrs.
HAZMAT Technician (Offensive) & (Treatment/Storage and Disposal Site Workers)
All topics included in Awareness Level & Operations Level
1. Monitoring & Sampling
2. Stopping Releases
3. Incipient Fire Fighting
4. HAZ MAT Technician Exercise / Test
Certificates to be awarded in addition to HAZ MAT Technician level include HAZCOMM, PPE, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, PPE, Respiratory Protection and Incipient Fire Fighting
Course length – 24 hrs
Hazardous Waste Clean Up Site Workers
All topics included in HAZMAT Technician training & additionally
1. Confined Space Entry
2. First Aid/CPR
3. Hands-on mock spill response exercise
4. Test
Certificates to be awarded Hazardous Waste Site Clean Up, HAZCOMM, PPE, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Fire Fighting, Confined Space Entry, and First Aid/CPR.
Course length – 40 hours
Incident Commander same as HAZMAT Technician training with emphasis on the Incident Command System.
Annual Refresher Training ( 8 hrs. required) Review of the level of one’s own training.
